Canton pitcher James Chase scattered nine hits, but Potsdam nicked him for a run in the first, another in the fifth and a three-run rally in the third inning.  Potsdam's Jerry Coleman scattered two hits and fanned nine Bears for the win.  Potsdam's Paul Buchanon and Harrison Schwarzer each smacked two hits.

Lisbon’s catcher Zach Premo (12) didn’t get the ball in time to get the Harrisville runner at the plate.  Harrisville bounced back from a 4-1 deficit to score two runs in the fifth and sixth innings to overtake the Golden Knights at Lisbon 5-4.

Harrisville’s Tom Coloney (13) launches a ball into deep centerfield for a sacrifice fly that scored a run.  Coloney rattled two hits, while teammate Josh Hartle also spanked two hits.  Hartle scattered eight hits while delivering a complete-game victory for the Pirates who improved to 8-6 with the win.

Harrisville’s Coal Campbell (3) beats it out at first base, as the throw pulls Lisbon first baseman Eric Mehaffy off the bag.   Campbell contributed a pair of hits for the Pirates.Josh Lassail and Brandon Robinson each had to hits for the Knights.
 

POTSDAM BLANKS CANTON 5-0 TO CLINCH 2ND PLACE IN CENTRAL

HEUVELTON EDGES CLOSER TO PERFECT SEASON BEATING ROCKETS


Morristown catcher Eric Micelli blocks home plate and applies the tag to prevent Heuvelton's Scott Bouchey from scoring in the third inning.  Heuvelton posted four runs in the first inning to grab a quick jump on Morristown and Bouchey pitched a complete-game win, striking out eight batters and scattered just three hits in an 11-1 win in a game played a Clarkson University on Friday.  (Bob LaRue photo)  Game Gallery

FARRELL LEADS CHATEAUGAY WITH ARM AND BAT IN WIN VS. ST. REGIS


Chateaugay pitcher Nick Farrell (2) tries to make the tag, but loses his shutout bid late in the game when a wild pitch allows St. Regis Falls' Brandon Hebert to score the Saints' only run of the game.  Hebert had reached third after he laced a triple. The Chateaugay Bulldogs pounced on the Saints for 15 runs in the first four innings and cruised to a 18-1 win on Thursday.

Chateaugay's Nick Farrell (2) throws strike three as part of the gem in the complete game victory.  Farrell twirled a two hitter and contributed to the scoresheet with three hits.

Eric Dwyear, Drew Boyea and Jordan Henderson all collected three RBIs for the Bulldogs who rapped 12 hits in the game.
 

O.F.A. CLINCH AT LEAST SHARE OF CENTRAL TITLE BEATING POTSDAM


Ogdensburg’s Andy Ladouceur reaches back for a little extra on his fastball delivery to the plate.  Ladouceur delivered the Blue Devils to a 14-1 win over second-place Potsdam and at least a share of the Section X Central Division title on Tuesday.  Ladouceur threw a two-hitter and struck out 12.  Ladouceur also delivered four RBIs  with a home run and a triple.  Ahead 5-1 entering the 6th inning, the Devils ripped the game open with a nine-run rally.  (Eric Foote photo)  Game Gallery

POTSDAM RISES TO BEAT MASSENA
4-2 BEHIND STRONG PITCHING & "D"


Potsdam second baseman Harrison Schwarzer (13) celebrates with a fist pump as shortstop Mike Scancarello (22) holds up the ball for the base umpire to see after a successful pickoff of Massena's Mike Mailhot (15).  Catcher John Coleman made the pickoff throw.  Scancarello and Schwatzer each had two hits.  Massena took a 2-0 lead in the 4th inning, before Potsdam countered with a pair of runs, including a Jerry Coleman solo home run in the bottom of the 4th.  He also pitched the win surrendering just three hits and fanning 10 Raiders.  The Stoners went on to win 4-2.  (Bob LaRue photo)  Game Gallery

Potsdam pulled off a successful double steal to tie the ball game at 2-2 in the fourth inning.  Massena's Dustin Currier (9) stepped off the mound and ran directly at runner Mike Scancarello.  However, the throw to home plate kicked off the runner breaking from third, Josh Narrow as catcher Taylor Zappia fielded.

Dustin Currier scattered eight hits on the afternoon, but was touched for two runs in the bottom of the sixth which put Potsdam ahead to stay.  Currier aided his own cause with an
RBI double in the Raiders' fourth inning rally. 
 

MADRID-WADDINGTON TIP ST. REGIS FALLS 12-7 IN EAST MATCHUP

Madrid-Waddington’s Jordan Kendall runs out from under his helmet as he speeds into third base for a triple after hitting the ball off the left-centerfield wall.  Kendall had four hits to help his own cause on the mound, which included an 11-strikeout game.

P-H PANTHERS VS. ST. LAWRENCE LARRIES SUSPENDED BY RAINSTORM

Larries' shortstop Phil Dishaw (5) gets a perfect throw along the ground in front of the Panthers' baserunner to get the out.  The  Larries led through two full innings of play, but the game was suspended due to a downpour and lightning.  It will be resumed on Wednesday, May 28th.
 

SHAMROCKS HONOR 50 YEARS, THEN SWEEP SAINTS IN TWINBILL SHUTOUT


Members of the 1958 Salmon River Shamrocks baseball team were honored by coaches, players and staff as the first baseball team after the establishment of the school at Fort Covington 50 years ago.  (Bob LaRue photos)  Game Gallery

The Shamrocks got solid hitting and shutout pitching from Steven Durant to capture the first game of a doubleheader over St. Regis Falls 14-0.  The Rocks came back to win the nightcap 13-0.  With the sweep, Salmon River captured at least a share of the East Division regular-season title.

(Top) Salmon River's Nate Fleury gets caught off first base by the St. Regis Falls defense, but manages to scamper back to the bag at first base when the throw shoots past first.  Fleury rocked a home run and 3 RBIs among his six hits on the day.

The Saints best scoring chance in the opening game came with a runner on third base, but were unable to deliver.  Steve Durant and Nate Fleury combined for a one-hitter in Game 1.  Chris Lewis threw a complete-game one-hitter in Game 2.  It was Anthony Sucise who played no-hit spoiler in both games, getting the Saints lone hit in each. 
 

B-M PANTHERS EDGE TO HALF-GAME OF EAST LEAD BEATING BULLDOGS


Brushton Moria's Justin Supernault (13) deliveries strike three as part of the winning effort against Chateaugay.  Supernault drove in three runs while smacking two hits and pitching a complete game seven-hitter.  He also struck out 12.  The Panthers built a 6-0 lead through the first two innings.  B-M edged within a half-game of first place in the East Division beating the Bulldogs 9-5, while first place Salmon River fell to St. Lawrence. B-M'S SUPERNAULT DEALS SALMON RIVER'S 1ST LOSS IN TWINBILL SPLIT


Salmon River's Pat Durant (10) zeroes in on the low pitch to make contact and drive in the runner from third.  The Salmon River Shamrocks lost their first game of the season 8-1 in the first game of a twinbill with Brushton-Moira.  Justin Supernault tossed a three-hitter.  The Shamrocks bounced back to win

Salmon River's Braden Saidel protects second base as he applies the tag on B-M's Josh Sevey in a successful pickoff.  In the opener, Cody O'Connor blasted a home run and a single, while Brandon Young had two hits to lead the Panthers.

Salmon River pitcher Marc Plante dealt a complete-game victory in the nightcap by allowing just two hits and striking out six.  Stephen Durant and Shane Ghostlaw delivered two hits each.
 

EDWARDS-KNOX JUMPS INTO 2ND PLACE IN TWINBILL SWEEP OF LISBON

Edwards-Knox's Franklin Mackin and Lisbon's Josh Lassail each threw one hitters in the second game of a double header.  However, the Cougars scored once in the bottom of the first inning to account for the game's only scoring.  The Cougars' Stone pitched the win in the opening game of the twinbill.

Lisbon’s Reece Armstrong doesn't get the ball in time at second base to get the Edwards-Knox base runner.  Edwards-Knox led throughout the first game, opening a 3-2 lead in the first inning.  The teams traded a run in the second and third, then two more each in the fourth.  The Cougars put the game away with two unanswered runs in the sixth inning.
 

MASSENA'S KORMANYOS HITS & PITCHES MASSENA TO WALKOFF WIN


Massena baserunner Nate Pichette just eludes the tag of Canton third baseman Levi Sisk (14).  However, Pichette's slide started too close to the bag and his momentum caused him to overslide into foul territory where Sisk tagged him out. The Raiders (7-3) outlasted the Bears 2-1 with a walkoff RBI double by Alex Kormanyos in the 7th inning.  The win moved the within a game of idle O.F.A.  Canton fell to 5-4. The Massena Red Raiders won a pitching duel between their starter Alex Kormanyos and Canton's James Smith.  Kormanyos twirled a three-hitter against the Bears.  Smith scattered nine hits, but took the loss. Canton scored first in the third inning, but Massena countered with a run of their own in the last of the third.  Kormanyos plated the game winner with a double to drive in Garrett Sharlow with two out  in the bottom of the 7th inning.

his secondary lead at second base.  The Parishville-Hopkinton Panthers battled back from an early pack of miscues which contributed to a nine-run third inning for Brushton-Moira in a 16-6 final.  B-M's Ben Chapman pitched into the fifth inning and picked up the win, before giving way to Justin Poirier and Justin Supernault.  The win lifted Brushton-Moira to within a game and

A P-H error to second base allowed Brandon Young (8) to advance.  Cody O'Connor logged two triples and three RBIs, while Poirier had four hits and three RBIs for the winners.  Justin Pearson had three hits for Parishville-Hopkinton.
 

WHEELER RIPS 3-RUN HOMER TO
BEAT C-F EAGLES IN 8TH INNING 7-4

A pair of Clifton-Fine miscues the top of the 8th inning opened the door for Lisbon's Nate Wheeler to deliver some extra-innings heroics with a three-run homerun to lift the Lisbon Golden Knights to a 7-4 win over the Eagles.  The win allowed Lisbon to stay within two games of the West-leading Heuvelton Bulldogs, while the lost dropped the Eagles onto the bubble for the post-season playoffs with a 3-6 record.  Only eight teams make the baseball quarterfinals.  Lisbon's Josh Lassail added two doubles for the winners.  Andrew Gearsbeck and Gordon Whitney had two hits for the Eagles.
 

POTSDAM'S COLEMAN THREE-HITS MALONE IN 5-1 WIN TO MOVE INTO 2ND

SIX HOMERS HIGHLIGHT H-D DEMONS WIN OVER MORRISTOWN ROCKETS


Hermon-DeKalb catcher Dustin Fenlong pounces on the ball in front of home plate and was able to throw out a Morristown runner at first base.  Hermon-DeKalb pounced on Rockets' pitching as well in a 20-3 thrashing on Friday.

Morristown pitcher Billy Whitmarsh came in relief of starter Cody VanSchaik.  But Hermon-DeKalb's hot bats rapped out 20 hits, scoring five runs in the first inning, six more in the
third and four more runs in the fifth inning.

Morristown's Marshall Brown take a rip at the high fastball and deposits it over the leftfield wall for a home run at Fran Hollaran Field in Morristown.  The Green Demons, however, countered with five round trippers, led by Tyler Amo who ripped two homers.  Fenlong, Jeremy Warren and Adam Burnham also cranked home runs.
 

FOUR-RUN 4TH INNING POWERS LARRIES OVER M-W JACKETS 10-3

OGDENSBURG CONTINUES TORRID PACE BEATING GOUVERNEUR 16-2

Ogdensburg's Brendan Merna (left) pitched five innings and earned nine strikeouts.  Gouverneur reliever Chad Woods came in to pitch the last five innings.  Ogdensburg attacked quickly, posting four runs in each of the first two innings and two more runs in the third.  Gouverneur scored two runs in the fifth.

Goiuverneur's Duane Roberts went 3-for-4 to lead the Wildcats, while Justin Jackson, Jordan Closs and Ben Rockwood each contributed two hits.

UPPSTROM'S NO-HITTER LEADS M-W JACKETS TO FIRST WIN VS. SAINTS


Madrid-Waddington's David Uppstrom tossed a no-hit shutout in guiding the Yellow Jackets to their first win of the season, an
8-0 over the St. Regis Falls Saints.  The M-W bats also staked Uppstrom to a 5-0 lead in the top of the first inning, with Kyle Lawrence, Andrew Lindsey and Justin Putney each pounding

MARSHALL POWERS MALONE WIN PAST NORWOOD-NORFOLK 10-6

Will Griffith (8) hit a solo homerun for the Rockets.   Griffith was greeted at home plate by teammates following the blast.  The round tripper brought Morristown to within a run, 4-3, in the 6th inning, but that was the last run scored by either side.

THORBAHN'S TWO-RUN SINGLE LIFTS CANTON TO 4-2 WIN VS. MALONE

Salmon River’s Marc Plante (18) slides and stumbles into second base safely avoiding the tag for a stolen base.  Plante was the winner on the mound in the second game of the twinbill.

Salmon River’s Stephen Durant cranks one of his three hits on the day including this one that drove in the go ahead run.  Durant and starting pitcher Chris Lewis combined to toss a one-hitter in beating the Bulldogs in the first of two games.  Durant then drove in Marc Plante on a walkoff single in a 5-4 win in Game 2
 

POTSDAM BOUNCES BACK TO BEAT TUPPER BEHIND COLEMAN HOMER

The Potsdam Sandstoners baseball team bounced back from an early 2-0 deficit to turn back the Tupper Lake Lumberjacks 4-2 and move into sole possession of first place in the Central Division of Section X. Potsdam, Massena and Ogdensburg began the day all with 4-1 records. Potsdam pitcher Chris Reece tossed a complete-game seven hitter, striking out eight and surrendering just one walk. Jerry Coleman led the Stoner attack going three-for-four with a two-run blast. Tupper Lake (1-5, 2-6 overall) was led by Tony Provost who notched two of the Jacks’ seven hits.

Potsdam's Mike Scancarello was the winning pitcher and aided his own cause going 2-for-4 with three RBIs,  Jerry Coleman went 3-for-4 and Chris Reece slammed two hits for Potsdam. (6-2, 7-2 overall).  Potsdam broke a 1-1 tie with two runs in the fifth inning and added an insurance marker in the sixth.

HAMMOND RALLIES FOR FOUR RUNS FOR WALKOFF 9-8 WIN VS. PIRATES

LISBON'S LASSIAL FIRES TWO-HITTER TO DELIVER WIN VS. HARRISVILLE

Lisbon’s Josh Lassial tossed a two-hit, complete-game shutout in the Golden Knights’ 7-0 triumph at Harrisville. Lisbon, now 5-1, remains a game behind undefeated Heuvelton for the West Division lead. Eric Mehaffy and Jordan Miller each triggered three hits, while Brandon Robinson swatted a two-run double. Harrisville’s record fell to 4-3.
 

HERMON-DEKALB BEATS HAMMOND
IN SLUGFEST ON WALKOFF ERROR

Hermon-DeKalb’s Tyler Amo singled, then came around to score the game winner on an outfield error in the bottom of the seventh inning to lift the Green Demons to a 12-11 win in a hitting slugfest over Hammond in West Division action. H-D’s Korey Besaw slammed a triple and a single to help power the win. Hermon-DeKalb improved to 5-2, 5-4 overall. For Hammond (1-5), Brandon Howie homered twice and Chris Thiverge also swatted a round tripper.

THORBAHN'S TWO-RUN SINGLE LIFTS CANTON TO 4-2 WIN VS. MALONE

Canton's James Chase (2) is greeted at home by teammates after hitting a two-run homerun to tie the game 2-2 in the third inning.  OFA had scored twice in the first inning to take the lead.

Ogdensburg's Tyler Stevenson shakes Coach Mike Sargent's hand after crushing a long homerun onto the roof a building beyond centerfield.  Steven's solo blast came in the 4th inning, after Ogdensburg had regained the lead 4-2 in the third frame when Mike Luckie and Brendan Merna scored after hits.  Canton's Mike Murray scored on an error in the top of the fifth, before the Blue Devils sealed the win with a four-run rally in last of the fifth inning highlighted by Stevenson's two RBI double.

Canton’s Ridge Thorbahn laid down the sacrifice bunt and was thrown out by Malone catcher Dan Marshall.  In the sixth inning, Thorbahn lashed a bases-loaded two-RBI single to break a 2-2 tie and lift the Golden Bears (2-1) to a 4-2 comeback win over the Huskies.  Mike Murray also had two hits for the Bears.
