Parishville-Hopkinton's Mike Bicknell flies up the court on the steal and fast break.  Bicknell had the hot hand for the Panthers, scoring 10 points, while Dan GIlbert added 9 points.

Parishville-Hopkinton's Joihn VanElls (14) places himself to angle Colton-Pierrepont's Jeremy Thomas (20) away from the basket.  Thomas and Andrew Bonno netted nine points each, behind a game-best 18 points from Zach Regan.  Regan dropped four three-pointers.
 

BLUE DEVILS RALLY IN SECOND HALF TO POUNCE ON RED RAIDERS 64-44

 MASSENA SNAGS 2ND-PLACE FINISH IN VICTORY MALONE 69-63

In the lone boys’ basketball tilt on Thursday, Massena turned back Gouverneur’s strongest effort of the season with a 70-56 win. Gouverneur stayed within a point at 15-14 in the first quarter, trailed 31-25 at the half and played evenly 13-13 in the third quarter. The Red Raiders doused the Wildcats’ hopes for an upset in the fourth quarter with an 26-18 finish. Raiders’ Garrett Sharlow fired a torrid 17-for-18 from the free-throw line and netted 29 total points to lead all scorers. Matt Perry added 17 points and Jon Schriver delivered 12. For Gouverneur, Dustin Lallier scored 14 points and Matt Bates collected 11.
 

 TEBO'S BUZZER-BEATER LIFTS N-N FLYERS TO 45-44 THRILLER VS. H-D

 HERMON-DEKALB UPSETS HAMMOND BEHIND FENLONG & STREETER

The Hermon-DeKalb Green Demons pulled Tuesday night's Section X upset wtih a 66-49 win over Hammond.  The win boosted Hermon-DeKalb to 8-5 in the West standings, while the loss sent Hammond to a 9-4 record.  Josh Streeter's 16-point, eight steal and five rebound performance powered the Demons, while guard Dustin Fenlong fired off 17 points and five assists.  Hammond's Brandon Howie led all scorers with 19 points for the game.

After a close first quarter with the Bulldogs up 18-12, Chateaugay erupted for a 25-5 run and took control against the St. Lawrence Central Larries for a 43-18 halftime lead, en route to a 58- 31 win at Chateaugay. The dismal run for the Larries in the second quarter proved to be the difference, with the Larries creeping back a bit with a 9-5 fourth quarter. In the winning effort, the Bulldogs had just two players with double-digit points: Zach Peck with 14 and Brad Dumont with 10 points. Leading the way for the Larries was Phil Dishaw with eight points, including 2- for-2 from the foul line. The next game for the Bulldogs (9-0) will be Wednesday in intersectional action hosting Chazy. St. Lawrence (1-8) will host Madrid-Waddington on Friday, January 25th.

In the JV game, the St. Lawrence Central Junior Larries entered the contest just a game behind the JV Bulldogs (12-0) atop the East race and in a hotly-contested overtime finish, the JV Larries prevailed 58-56 and ended the 64-game winning streak of the Chateaugay JV. Bulldogs JV Coach Steve Lang said after the game that the record spread over four seasons (their last loss was when Brad Dumont went to the Varsity team as a freshmen and lost the JV lost their second game of that season). With the loss, Lang congratulated the Larries on a great game, but was acknowledged all of his former and current players’ efforts in the great streak. Lastly, he said, “We will just have to try to start a streak all over again with the next game.”

Edwards-Knox's Dan Corbine (1) scored a game-high 16 points including four three-balls, including the game winner.  Jon Corbine added 13 points.  The Cougars as a team delivered 11 three-pointers in the win.  Lisbon's Josh Lassial had a game-high 17 points, while Jordyn Rayburn connected for 15 points.  The Cougars improved to 5-5 with the win, while the Golden Knights dropped to 5-5 in league play as well.

In intersectional basketball, the state’s top-seeded Class D team in New York State, the Chateaugay Bulldogs overwhelmed the Chazy Eagles in a rematch of last year’s Regional semifinal. The Bulldogs started out with a slight 12-8 lead after the 1st quarter, but exploded in the second frame, overpowering the Eagles 17-4, for a 29-12 advantage at intermission. Zack Peck led the way for the Bulldogs at the break with six points, countered by Gaelen Trombley with six points for the Eagles. The Bulldogs continued their dominating performance in the third quarter with a 26-5 run, before an 11-10 advantage in the final period. For the game, Zach Peck led Chateaugay with 12 points. Drew Boyea and Jordan Henderson added 10 points while going 5-for-6 from the foul line. Brad Dumont chipped in nine points with seven rebounds and five assists. Leading the way in scoring for the Eagles was Gaelen Trombley with eight points. The next game for the Bulldogs will be Friday night at Colton-Pierrepont.
 

MALONE BEATS BACK POTSDAM IN FINAL SECONDS FOR 50-48 VICTORY

LARCHE LEADS HEUVELTON IN O.T. WIN OVER HERMON-DEKALB 71-68

After leading 19-14 at the quarter, Heuvelton went on a 15-4 tear to take a 29-23 lead at the half.  H-D crept back with a
15-12 third quarter and 22-19 mark in the fourth to tie the game.

#4 BLUE DEVILS STAY UNBEATEN IN CENTRAL WITH 54-36 WIN AT CANTON

Canton's Brad Stone skips through the air to make a jump stop and tries to get the shot off against O.F.A.'s Gene Bouyer.  The state-ranked #4 Blue Devils pounced quickly to open a 14-4 lead after the first quarter, the Canton played evenly in the second frame 13-13.  However, the Blue Devils pulled away for good with a 17-11 run in the third quarter to seal the win.
 

CHATEAUGAY HONORS RON BOYEA'S 250TH VICTORY & BEATS SALMON


The Chateaugay boys basketball team poses with Coach Ron Boyea after receiving a plaque, paid for by members of the team, honoring his 250th win as High School Basketball Coach, including last year's run to as New York State Class D runnersup.  Boyea achieved the mark on his previous victory over St. Regis Falls last Thursday.  The plaque was presented at Monday night's game at home.  The Bulldogs promptly gained win #251 in defeating the Salmon River Shamrocks 55-24.

The East Division-leading Chateaugay Bulldogs ran their regular-season record to 6-0 (10-0 overall) with a quick 10-0 lead to start and never looked back. The Bulldogs raced to a 21-4 lead after the first quarter, then opened a 32-9 lead going into the break.  A scrappy defense combined with a well-tuned transition game anchored the Bulldogs' attack en route to a 55-24 win. Leading the way in scoring were Chateaugay's Zach Peck and Brad Dumont with 14 points each. For Salmon River, Dan Tremblay had five points. The next game for the Bulldogs will be Friday at Madrid-Waddington in a game you can hear on North Country SportsNet. Salmon Riverwill host Norwood- Norfolk in nonleague action on Wednesday.
 

COLTS' REGAN SPLASHES 21 POINTS IN 58-35 WIN OVER P-H PANTHERS

#1 STATE-RANKED CHATEAUGAY STYMIES M-W JACKETS IN 52-30 WIN


Chateaugay's Brad Dumont (14) engineers a scoring drive for the #1 state-ranked Bulldogs. Dumont netted nine points in a balanced Bulldog attack in a 52-30 win at Madrid-Waddington.  The Bulldogs posted a 10-point run in the first quarter, another 10-point run in the second to mount a 24-12 halftime lead.  But a 17-point unanswered blitz to start the third quarter was a backbreaker for the Yellow Jackets.  Game Gallery

ADAMS' 14 POINTS LIFTS POTSDAM TO 43-38 WIN OVER CANTON BEARS

The Madrid-Waddington Yellow Jackets pounced on host Morristown for 28 first-quarter points and held the Rockets' offense to just 13 first-half points in cruising to a 76-35 win in the championship game of Morristown Christmas Tournament.  Morristown advanced to the championship by winning their first game of the season over Alexandria Bay in the semifinal.  M-W was led by George Labaff's 13 bench points.

NORWOOD-NORFOLK CAPTURES 2007 PROVOST TOURNEY OVER SAINTS


The Norwood-Norfolk Flyers won a seesaw battle with host St. Regis Falls in the championship game of the 2007 Heather Provost Boys Basketball Tournament on Saturday.  The Flyers jumped to a 14-1 lead, only to see the advantage evaporate by the half and the Saints take over 23-22.  However, the Flyers surged in the 4th quarter to win 48-43 to capture the tournament title.  Game Gallery   Listen to the NCSN Broadcast
