E-K COUGARS UPSET WEST LEADER H-D DEMONS 64-52

The Edwards-Knox Cougars have clawed their way into the battle atop the West race after upsetting divisional leader Hermon-DeKalb 64-52 in Russell. A balanced Cougar attack was led by Ben Fuller with 25 points, including 11 scored in the fourth quarter. Jon Davison and David Bullock collected 12 points each. H-D’s Connor Whitton led all scorers with 16 points, while Jon Peters dumped in 14 points. With the win, E-K ascended into second place tie with Lisbon.
 

P-H PANTHERS WIN FIRST GAME IN OVERTIME OVER C-P COLTS

The Parishville-Hopkinton Panthers finally gained their first win of the season in dramatic fashion with a 49-43 overtime victory over the Colton-Pierrepont Colts. Eric Zellweger, who led all scorers with 19 points, produced four key points in the extra frame to put the Panthers in the win column. Nick Avery chipped in 13 points for P-H. The Colts were led by Mike Reilly with 13 points and Beau Boyden with 11 points.
 

TUPPER LAKE RALLIES IN 2ND HALF TO BEAT ST. LAWRENCE


St. Lawrence Central’s Camden Durant (15) attempts a fade-away jumper over Tupper Lake’s Jacob Klossner (32). Klossner banked a three-pointer with 5.1 seconds left to give Tupper Lake a 41-40 comeback win.  Klossner led all scorers with 19 points. Tupper Lake’s Hayden Lamere (21) dribbles the ball baseline while being tightly guarded by St. Lawrence Central’s Brian Labier (20).  Lamere's return to the floor in the second half helped spark the Jacks' win.  He scored seven points.  Tupper outscored St. Lawrence 10-2 after intermission to tie the game 24-24.  The game was tied again at 28-28 and 35-all, before the Larries went up 40-35.  Tupper Lake fought back with the decisive blow on Klossner's three-pointer.
 

MALONE HUSKIES CLIMB PAST GOUVERNEUR IN 46-39 VICTORY

MASSENA ROMPS IN 2ND HALF TO TOP MALONE HUSKIES 69-46


Massena’s Trevor Bacon (51) blows through the Malone defense down the lane for a easy bucket.  Just after Malone opened the second half with a pair of baskets to close within seven points, the Massena Red Raiders blew the game open to a 20-point lead.  Bacon poured in 19 points, Brady Condlin added 15 points and 13 rebound and Troy Myers contributed in 13 points as the Red Raiders beat Malone 69-46.

ADAMS & BARTENSTEIN SHOOT POTSDAM PAST CANTON


Potsdam’s Zach Adams powers up and extends for the reverse layup over Canton’s Aaron Rexford (15).  The Potsdam Sandstoners scooted out to a 24-4 lead after the first quarter, setting the tone for a 72-18 win.  Adams and Scott Bartenstein dropped in 14 points each, while John Coleman added 13 and Josh Adams 12 points to pace the Sandstoners (8-1, 16-1).

The Sandstoners got off to a 24-4 lead after one quarter en route to a win over the Bears (0-8, 3-12 overall). Potsdam improved to 8-1, 16-1 overall. Tyler Thomas led Canton with seven points.  Brandon Bartley added six points.
 

BENKO DRILLS 24 IN SALMON RIVER WIN OVER COLTS 44-32

CHATEAUGAY BEATS B-M 70-52; BOYEA HONORED FOR 300 WINS

The Brushton-Moira defense offers Chateaugay's Eli Franze (23) very little chance to get the shot, including a double team low and back up distraction leaping in the air.  The Bulldogs pulled away for a 70-52 win over the B-M Panthers to stay unbeaten at 11-0 in the East Division and 13-1 overall. 
Eli Franze poured in 21 points and Ian Henderson pumped home 20 more for the Bulldogs. Josh Sevey netted a team-best
18 points for the Panthers who fell to 7-4, 8-5 overall.
 

HERMON-DEKALB SUFFERS FIRST LOSS TO LISBON 57-50


Hermon-DeKalb's Dylan Amo (5) goes up for the layup, but his shot was partially blocked by Lisbon's Ryan Akins (44).  Lisbon scored the game's last seven points to break a 50-50 tie and won 57-50 over Hermon-DeKalb, led by Mike McDonnell's 18 points and Eric Mehaffey's. Eric Mehaffy tossed down 16 points for Lisbon who improved to 8-3 in the West Division and 11-4 overall.  The Lisbon win stalled Hermon-DeKalb's attempt to clinch the West Division regular-season title.
 

M-W JACKETS ADVANCE TO LISBON TOURNEY FINAL 64-31


Madrid-Waddington’s Jordan Kendall (4) goes up between two Canton players and draws the foul.  Madrid-Waddington won 64-31 led by Kendall’s 22 points, while Canton was led by Ben Koser’s eight points.  The Jackets took command early with pressure defense and put the game away in the second half by allowing Canton just 11 points after intermission.

BEEKMANTOWN DEALS RARE HOME LOSS AT CHATEAUGAY

Raymond (12).  The Eagles dealt the Chateaugay boys basketball team a rare home loss, 63-56 on Saturday.  Henderson led the Bulldogs with 19 points, including five 3-pointers. Chateaugay led 26-25 at the half, but Beekmantown chipped away with a 19-14 run in the third quarter and 19-16 advantage in the 4th frame.

OGDENSBURG DEALS POTSDAM ITS FIRST LOSS OF SEASON

The Ogdensburg Blue Devils received 17-point production from both Gene Bouyer and Owen Luckie in dealing Potsdam its first loss of the season 51-49 and stalled the Sandstoners’ bid to clinch the Central Division regular-season title. Jake Rishe’s two free throws with 16.6 seconds remaining gave O.F.A. a two-possession 50-46 lead and enough to claim the win. John Coleman’s 16 points led the Sandstoners (7-1, 15-1 overall) with help from Scott Bartenstein’s 14 points and Zaach Adams’ 11-point contribution. Ogdensburg improved to 5-2, 12-3 overall and stayed tied with the Massena Red Raiders for second-place in the Central Division.
 

CONDLIN'S 19 LEADS MASSENA PAST CARTHAGE 76-61

LISBON OUTSLUGS HEUVELTON IN TOURNEY SEMIFINAL 44-39

Gene Bouyer’s game-best 15-point performance against Norwood-Norfolk pushed the Ogdensburg senior guard past Mike Harrison to 1,343 points and the new all-time leading scorer in Blue Devils boys basketball history. Morrison finished his career at O.F.A. with 1,338 points from 1988 to 1992. In Friday’s game, O.F.A. topped the Flyers 78-38. O.F.A.’s Jared Morrow and Jake Rishe and Norwood-Norfolk’s Jared Pollock each scored 13 points.
 

CHATEAUGAY TURNS BACK LISBON IN NON-LEAGUE 64-43


Chateaugay’s Michael Boyea (10) and Lisbon’s Nolan Fletcher (34) both reach down to get a hand on the loose ball.  In a battle of two strong Class D teams, Chateaugay dominated after halftime, breaking away from a 24-18 lead to beat Lisbon 64-43 in an interdivisional game matchup.  Game Gallery

RAIDERS SOAR IN 4TH QTR: WIN HOME OPENER VS. TUPPER

HUSKIES OUTLAST FLYERS IN OVERTIME VICTORY 63-60

In a seesaw battle of surges, the Malone Huskies fended off Norwood-Norfolk’s fourth quarter comeback and downed the Flyers 63-60 in overtime. The Flyers jumped to a 10-4 lead in the first quarter, but were outscored 19-9 in the second frame. After both teams registered 18 points in the third quarter, the Flyers generated a 16-12 advantage at the end of regulation to force overtime at 53-53. Austin Dunlavey powered the Huskies’ offense with a game-best 21 points, while Jake Gravel poured in 15 points and Jared Heden delivered 13 to the rack. Jared Pollack led the balanced Flyers’ offense with 15, Pat Sassone added 14, Drew Stone dumped in 13, Adam Stone added 12.
 

 

FLYERS REGROUP IN 2ND HALF TO BEAT SALMON RIVER 54-31

GOUVERNEUR ANSWERS O.F.A. CHALLENGES TO POST UPSET


The Ogdensburg Blue Devils, forced to play catch-up most of the game, break out against the Gouverneur Wildcats. Ogdensburg’s Jared Morrow (13) starts the fast break for the Blue Devils.  The Wildcats fended off several Ogdensburg runs at the lead, fending off a final rally in the last four minutes to upset the Devils 56-48.  Marco Carbone splashed 17 points and Alex Bush added 13 points for the Wildcats. CHATEAUGAY WINS BATTLE ATOP EAST, BEATING LARRIES

The Bulldogs are still unbeaten in nine divisional games and ten starts overall. Chateaugay trailed 16-14 at the half and by seven points in the fourth quarter before lighting up the scoreboard with four straight three-pointers to pull ahead by five points. Cody Kilcoyne netted 11 points and Camden Durant added 10 points for the Larries.
 

H-D DEMONS FIGHT OF PIRATES TO REMAIN UNBEATEN 73-59


Wearing a new uniform:  Hermon-DeKalb’s Trevor Stott (40) was a Harrisville Pirate before Christmas vacation before a family transfer.  Stott pump fakes to shoot while being defended by Harrisville’s Gavinn Kiggins.  The Pirates owned much of the first half, leading by four points at intermission.  However, Hermon-DeKalb dominated in a 30-3 run in the third quarter to blow open and go on to beat Harrisville 73-59 in West Division action.  (Mike Webb photo)  Game Gallery

Dylan Amo and Chris Wentzel each tossed in 12 points to keep the Demons unblemished at 7-0 at the season’s midway point. Colin Baker led the Pirates with four scores beyond the arc and 18 points overall, which Jason Thomas hit for 16 points and Kiggins dropped in 12 points.
 

E-K COUGARS' FAST START DOOMS CLIFTON-FINE 63-39


Clifton-Fine’s Tom McCormick (15) soars through the air over a couple of Edwards-Knox defenders and knocks down the shot with a bank off the glass.  Edwards-Knox raced out to an early 26-6 lead, then turned back the Eagles for a 63-39 win.  The Cougars were led by Jon Davison and David Bullock who both netted 15 points. The Eagles were led by Tim Fetterhoff with 16 points and McCormick who added 11 points.

CLIFTON-FINE NOTCHES FIRST WIN EDGING ROCKETS 44-42

The Clifton-Fine Eagles quest for their first victory of the season finally succeeded with a hard-fought and narrow 44-42 victory over the Morristown Green Rockets, C-F’s Tim Fetterhoff piled up 19 points, including two key three-pointers in the final period to guide the Eagles to their first win (1-5, 1-9 overall) of the season in ten tries. Tom McCormick contributed 10 points and Andrew Gearsbeck added nine in the winning effort. Morristown had strong scoring performances from Brandon Aldrich with 18 points, Drew Lipinsky 14 points and Bobby Simmons 12 points.
 

N-N FLYERS SOAR PAST CANTON BEARS IN 62-27 WIN

LISBON'S LATULIP BURIES 31 AND HARRISVILLE 57-38

MORRISTOWN OUTLASTS P-H PANTHERS FOR 56-51 VICTORY


Parishville-Hopkinton's Trevor Zellwegger pops a 16-footer from the baseline to keep the Panthers within a possession in the fourth quarter.  Zellwegger netted eight points. HEUVELTON RALLIES TO UPSET LISBON IN SEMIFINAL 46-44

READY, AMO, FIRE: H-D DEMONS WIN BATTLE VS. LISBON IN 2 OT


Hermon-DeKalb’s Dylan Amo, shooting against Lisbon's Ryan Akins, scored 26 points to lead the Demons, including the game-winning shot at the end of the second overtime to give the Demons a 86-83 win in a thriller over Lisbon. Amo’s shot was a three-pointer from NBA range, after he also hit a NBA-range three-ball at the end of regulation with two Lisbon players in his face. sending the game to the first overtime. Lisbon’s Kyle Binion (20) snatches the rebound over Hermon-DeKalb’s Logan Allen (24).  Hermon-DeKalb trailed during most of regulation, down eight points at the half and seven points through three frames.  H-D's Jon Peters added 22 points, including 10 points in the fourth quarter to fuel the Demons' comeback, capped by Amo's high-arc, miracle buzzer beater that rainbowed down from NBA range with two Knights defending in his face.  Eric Mehaffy led Lisbon with 19 points.

ADAMS' 22 POINTS LEADS POTSDAM  PAST O.F.A. 78-39

MORRISTOWN BOWS TO B-H PANTHERS IN NON-LEAGUE

LISBON STAVES OFF LATE E-K RALLY FOR 61-53 VICTORY


Edwards-Knox’s Taylor Davis reaches in to knock the ball away from Lisbon’s Josh Crawford (14).  Lisbon’s Ryan Akins scored 13 points including 9-for-9 in shots from the foul line where he put away the Edwards-Knox Cougars in the final seconds of a 61-53 win. Akins also contributed nine boards. Eric Mehaffy and Scott Lawton each scored 11 points for the Knights. Lisbon’s Nolan Fletcher (34) protects the ball against the tight defense of Edwards-Knox’s Ben Fuller (10).  E-K’s David Bullock rallied the Cougars to within five points in the fourth quarter. The Cougars had the chance to close within one possession in the final minute, but missed two free throws and and a chance to score under the hoop on a putback to draw any closer. Bullock had a game-best 21 points, including 13-for-17 at the charity stripe and five rebounds. Jon Davison finished with 11 points and Ben Fuller dished up 10 points. 
 

CROWDER'S 25, BOUYER'S 17 LEAD O.F.A. PAST INDIAN RIVER

GOUVERNEUR RALLIES EARLY TO BEAT GOLDEN BEARS 53-40

HENDERSON'S STRONG 4TH LEADS CHATEAUGAY WIN 57-37

H-D DEMONS' PRESS SWAMPS HEUVELTON IN 68-48 VICTORY

LISBON WINS BATTLE OF UNBEATENS, TOPPING FLYERS


Lisbon’s Mike Mcdonnell (30) looks to drive past Norwood-Norfolk’s Jesse Williams.  Mcdonnell led the Knights attack with 14 points, while Scott Lawton dished in 10 points.  Lisbon went on a 16-0 tear in the second quarter to wrest command from the Flyers. The Flyers clawed their way back in the fourth quarter, scoring 23 of their 45 points, but came up short.
The Flyers were led with 13 points from Pat Sassone and 10 points thrown down by Adam Stone.
