SOUTH JEFF CLAIMS SECTIONALS; MALONE 2ND, INDIAN RIVER 3RD

 Indoor Track Meet #5-6: February 2-9, 2008

INDIAN RIVER, SOUTH JEFF, MALONE TOP TIGHTLY-PACKED 21-TEAM FIELD

Rachel Bowdish and Marilyn Kitts competed in the long jump for the Canton Lady Bears.  Indian River's Gineen Dore won the event with a long of 16 feet 3 inches.

An Ogdensburg shot putter fires from the pit.  Ogdensburg's Anna Lawrence and Katelyn McCarney finished second and third to South Jefferson's Leanna Poirier in the event.  Poirier won the event by 5 feet 3½ inches.

South Jeff and Potsdam competitors in the 55 meter hurdles.  South Jefferson's Brittany Moody won the event at 8.8 seconds.  Massena's Mikala George was second at 9.7 seconds and South Jeff's Cali Hutchinson finished third at 10.2 seconds.

MALONE REGAINS TOP SPOT IN MEET #3; SOUTH JEFF 2ND, WARRIORS 3RD

Competitors in the girls 4x800 meter relay are tightly bunched as they pace themselves along the back stretch.  The Malone quartet of Jacqueline Whitman, Ellen Studlack, Danielle Sumas and Kaitlyn Combe won the event with a best time of 10:42.6. Cnaton finished 2nd, followed by Potsdam and Gouverneur.

SECTION X TRACK BRIEFS - WEEK #3

Complete Week 3 Results From Andy Devins

South Jefferson returned to the first-place spot in Meet #3 in boys indoor track, while Malone girls resumed the top slot in the girls division, echoing their top finishes in Meet #1.  Ogdensburg boys, who won Meet #2 was bumped back to second place, while Malone finished a distant third and Norwood-Norfolk stepped up to fourth place.  For the girls, South Jeff finished a close second place at 97 points, just seven points behind the leaders.  At a distance, Indian River, Canton and Gouverneur were tightly bunched in the third, fourth and fifth slots.
 


Runners from Canton, Norwood-Norfolk and Indian River compete hard in the 55-meter sprint.  Geneen Dore of Indian River won the event at 7.2 seconds.  Jessica Farmer of Malone was second.

A hurdler from South Jefferson mounts a sizeable advantage during the 55-meter hurdles event.  Brittany Moody of South Jefferson raced off to an 8.9-second finish, seven-tenths ahead of Massena's Mikala George and 1.1 seconds better than South Jeff's Cali Hutchinson.

SECTION X TRACK BRIEFS - WEEK #2

The South Jefferson girls posted 98 points, and the Ogdensburg boys scored 91 points to claim NAC Meet 2 wins Friday at St. Lawrence University. On the girls side, the Malone girls (96) were a close second, and Indian River (55) claimed third. On the boys side, South Jefferson (77) finished second, and Malone (70) took third. The next  contest is Friday, Jan. 11 at S.L.U.
 


Malone high jumper Sarah Marlowe leaps and just clears the bar during the high jump competition. Marlowe cleared the bar at a best 4 feet 8 inches, finishing in third place behind Ogdensburg's Lyndsey Tolman and South Jefferson's Cali Hutchinson who tied for first place with jumps of 4 feet 10 inches each.

SECTION X TRACK BRIEFS - WEEK #1

The Malone girls posted 97.5 points, and the South Jefferson boys scored 105.5 points to claim NAC Meet 1 honors Friday at St. Lawrence University. On the girls side, the South Jefferson girls (84) were second, and Canton (58) claimed third. Jessica Farmer (300 meters), Danielle Dumas (1000 meters), and Ashley Lamica (3000 meters) each won individual events for Malone. On the boys side, Greg Burns took the 1600 meters and Ryan Sanders won the 3200 meters for South Jefferson. The next NAC contest is Friday, Jan. 4 at SLU.
